Creating with words, shapes, and nails

Forming letters

Michael really likes to do copy work on his wipe board.  He will select a book off the shelf and practice his writing skills.  We like to make up silly ways to describe how to write a particular letter.  He likes captial D with a BIG Belly!  I'd like him to learn how to properly write letters so it will be easier for him to create with less frustration.  He seems to enjoy this particular exercise and also likes to scan through the book for a certain sentence to copy or a funny phrase.

Homemade Geoboard

Homemade Geoboard.
I made this board with thumbtacks and a leftover pine board.  Michael likes to take rubber bands and create shapes on the board.  His patience is increasing as he spends time selecting the tacks to use.

Hammering like Dad

Michael really enjoys putting on the goggles and "working like Dad".  We took a piece of wood and
added some nails with oversized heads so it would be easier to hit.  He spends a lot of time pounding them in and then trying to take them back out.  Would like to try to have him nail something together this spring.  Maybe a bird feeder that he could paint and then put outside and take care of with seed.

He continues to be curious and open to new activities for us to do together.  It is amazing to watch him experience things for the first time.  His senses take in it all and it is so incredible to watch him process.   He is joyful.
